Philipp Brämswig is a highly active and sought-after member of the vital Cologne and German jazz scene. Besides leading the „Philipp Brämswig Trio“ and the „Mengamo Trio“ he is among others member of the following bands: „Subway Jazz Orchestra“‚ „Soulcrane“, „Luciel“, „Kiki Manders“, „Florian Ross Big Company“, „Vagabond souls“ and more

Concerts and tours led him to South Korea, Belgium, Denmark, China, Albany, Bulgary, France, Poland, Romania, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland. He participated in numerous radio-, TV- and theaterproductions in Germany as well as the Netherlands and performed with a.o. the WDR Big Band, Jim Black, Seamus Blake, HR Big Band, Charlie Mariano, Bob Mintzer, Tony Lakatos, Richie Beirach, John Goldsby, Marshall Gilkes, Benjamin Herman, Candy Dulfer, Warren Vache, Paul Heller, Jesse van Ruller, Caro Emerald, Pete Philly & Perquisite a.m.m.

Philipp played on numerous international jazz festivals: „Hong Kong Jazz Festival“, „North Sea Jazz Festival“, „Montreux Jazz Festival“, „Bukarest Jazz Festival“, „The Hague Jazz“, „Cologne Jazzweek“, „Breda Jazz Festival“, „Cologne Winter Jazz Festival“, „Ostsee Jazzfestival“, „Jazz and joy Worms“, „Jazz ahead“ and many more.

He appeared on approx 40 CD-productions including: „Mengamo Trio - Chat bizarre“, „NIAQUE - Awake“‚ „Philipp Brämswig Trio - Molecular soul“, „Mengamo Trio - the one“, „Soulcrane - Another step we take“, „Subway Jazz Orchestra - Still screaming“, „Matthias Schwengler - Soulcrane“, „Philipp Brämswig/Stefan Karl Schmid - ANIMA“, „Ana Mai – Blossom“, „Hannah Köpf - Lonely dancer“, „Tobias Wember - State of mind“, „Florian Ross Big Company - Ties and loose ends“ and many more.

During his master-studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam he was awarded the ‚Top Talent’-scholarship of the Dutch conservatoria, which allowed him a study period in New York City, where Wayne Krantz, Ben Monder and Chris Crocco were among his mentors.

In his youth, Philipp succesfully took part in several competitions as a soloist and ensemblemember (‘Jugend musiziert’, ’Jugend jazzt’, ’Jazz over Hannover’, Biberacher Jazzpreis, Amersfoort Jazz Concours). He was a member of the Youth Jazz Orchestra of Lower Saxonia as well as the German Federal Jazz Orchestra ’BuJazzO’ conducted by the renowned Peter Herbolzheimer.

In 2017 he and his trio were finalists of „Neuer Deutscher Jazzpreis“ (New German Jazz award).

In 2013 he started teaching pop and rock guitar at the „Hochschule für Musik Osnabrück“.

Since 2022 he is holding a teaching assignment for jazz guitar at „Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg“.
